I am so excited to finally be posting Jen and Tim’s wedding. I met Jen when I was in highschool, and she was one of the first brave souls to let me practice portrait photography on her. I’ve done lots of shoots for Jen since then, and so I was extremely happy when she asked me to photograph her wedding in CA. She is one of the most creative and inspiring people I have ever met, and when I was introduced to Tim a few years back I knew they had something special. I really love you guys, and I sincerely hope you enjoy your photos.

I am in Florida this week before school starts, and I had the chance to meet up with Steve and Hope and their two boys Justice and Reign. Steve and Hope are both pastors at Living Stones Church in Tampa, and are extremely passionate about their work. I’ve known them for a while now and it was fun to see the boys all grown up!

This summer I had the opportunity to attend soundSCAPE in a little town on the Swiss-Italian border. It was two weeks of amazing new music where I met some incredibly talented friends.

Stephanie is a vocalist living in Amsterdam – she has done a lot of fine art modeling in the past and is pretty fantastic at it. Not to mention a completely inspiring person.

We woke up at 6am before our rehearsals and climbed up a mountain to take pictures. Worth it.

I finally received this roll that I shot back in February, when I was visiting Josh in VA. He gave me a tour of his home and some of the neighboring towns. It was FREEZING here – I could barely hold the camera. So we spooked around a few back roads and ate a big breakfast at an adorable diner. Happy times.

Married // Camille + Gio

Camille and Gio are very beautiful people and their wedding definitely reflected that. The rain here in FL has been pretty insane (hurricane season!), so they had to move the event indoors. Despite the change of plans, everything came together wonderfully. The venue served as the ceremony and reception location, and was completely personalized by Camille and her friends and family. Her father even built her those adorable wooden signs in the bridal shots.

It’s all in your head

What I have realized about photography over this past year is the illusion that our tools dictate the outcome of our work. For a while, my brain would go out of “photographer mode” when I had anything but my expensive camera in hand. Now I’ve realized that art is not as static as this, and if we treat photography as a true expression of an abstract idea (aka…art), we can open ourselves up to things we never thought possible.

At this point in my life it’s nice to be reminded of this. My ideas don’t have less value because I own a minimal amount of gear. Shooting street photography really helped me discover this – and I am in love with the idea that I am not inhibited by some external variable to create gorgeous images. It might seem like a simple concept, but I think it’s still an important one.

Camille and Gio

I am very excited to post Camille and Gio’s pictures, as I haven’t shot an engagement session in a while and this one was pretty spectacular. They are getting married at the beginning of June and from everything I’ve heard it’s going to be gorgeous. I have known them both for a while now, but it was nice to actually get to talk and hang out. They are an amazing couple and are going to do great things! Can’t wait for the wedding you guys!

Roanoke

I had the chance to spend this weekend with Josh. I was hired to play a few gigs in the Roanoke VA area, so we met there and hung out. It was a short visit, but we spelunked around downtown, did some street shooting, and ate crappy food together. Like Bojangles/Cook Out/mall food kind of terrible… but it made me pretty happy.
